About Yuba Counseling | Trauma-Informed Therapist in Nevada City
I believe therapy works best when it feels human — a space where you don’t have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or have the right words right away.
Who I Work With
I am a trauma-informed psychotherapist providing individual therapy for adults in Nevada City, California and via telehealth throughout the state. I specialize in working with women and LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and life transitions.
How I Practice
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware, and used to holding a lot on their own. Even so, they may feel stuck in repeating patterns, overwhelmed by anxiety, disconnected from their bodies, or unsure how to move forward. Therapy offers a space to slow down and gently understand the experiences and protective strategies that shaped you — while creating new possibilities for connection and change.
My approach is relational, collaborative, and grounded in both emotional and somatic healing. Alongside talk therapy, I integrate body-based modalities such as Brainspotting and Somatic Experiencing–informed work, helping clients process experiences that live not only in thoughts but in the nervous system.
My Approach & Values
I draw from relational therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt therapy, and client-centered approaches. Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, I tailor therapy to each person’s pace, needs, and goals.
As an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist, I welcome diverse identities, relationship structures, and experiences, including ethical non-monogamy and polyamory. I also offer sex therapy and support around intimacy, communication, and relational wellbeing.
I am deeply committed to accessible mental health care and feel honored to serve as a Medi-Cal provider in a rural community where resources can be limited. Creating spaces where more people can access meaningful care is an important part of my work.
Above all, I see therapy as a collaborative process — one rooted in curiosity, compassion, and respect for your inherent resilience.

A Little More About Me
Outside of therapy, I feel most grounded when I’m connected to nature and the slower rhythms of living in a rural community. I spend much of my time outdoors, enjoying the changing seasons, quiet moments, and the restorative pace that nature offers.
I also value time at home with my spouse and our two dogs, who are constant reminders of presence, play, and connection. Creativity is an important part of my life as well — I am a potter, and working with clay continues to shape how I understand patience, process, and growth. Much like therapy, pottery teaches me that meaningful change happens gradually, through care, attention, and trust in the unfolding.
